If you're bearing wrapped gifts while traveling for the holidays, you'll need to check them.
As Peter Greenberg notes, you'll likely just have to unwrap everything at security anyway.
It sounds like common sense in these years of heightened secuirty, but every holiday season thousands of travelers try to carry on beautifully wrapped presents only to be told by TSA agents to unwrap 'em - much to the consternation of the travelers further back in line.
So if you wrap, check your bags.
(This does of course suggest an entrepreneurial opportunity to start gift wrapping services at the airport.)
Also, as Peter notes, if you're carrying food... well, we're not sure what the "subject to additional security screening" means specifically, but if that pie you're traveling with looks like it has a bite taken out of it once it clears security, well...
